Without Cost.

My heart is throbbing rapidly
I shake and stumble to life I cling
Yet I go forth with such unease
Knowing I am here just to appease

Please soothe my soul and let me rest
For I have traveled fence by fence
And in Gods name I have lived his test
By rules and broken torn out chestโ€™s

These memories will come and go
But as I stand it shall be known
There is less to say and more to show
And life is worthless without woe

It takes the strong to overcome
And even stronger to be won
But mostly itโ€™s the ones who shun
That know not yet what has begun

This notion is not strewn across
Nor written in the margins just to be lost
Itโ€™s found inside this captured clause
No battles won without cost

  1. I loved the line – for I have travelled fence by fence. Your poem reminded me somehow of the lyrics to Jakob Dylans song, Love is a Country. Maybe the whole battlefield idea. Beautiful!

  2. Your writing makes hearts ache. We’ve all been there, rebuilding ourselves time and again. It’s our human journey it seems; you write so movingly about life on earth.

  3. Great poem. Very timely for me, as I am in battle right now. I forget to think that winning is an option. Thanks for the follow. ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. What an amazing poem! Enjoyed reading every bit of it ๐Ÿ™‚ Glad to have come across your blog! Thanks for the follow ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. you are a beautiful writer..there is such intense emotions bubbling under the surface of those letters i can feel it in my stomach! i commend you for having such an intriguing and intense tone and look forward to reading more posts from you x

  6. “Life is worthless without woe.” I so wish this were not so. I spend so much of my days trying to find a happy thought or memory. But we would never know happiness unless we had first leaned hard into our sadness. I just need to remember that. Thanks for the beautiful reminder. You are a very creative poet.

  7. This is fantastic. Thanks for visiting and following my blog. Please feel free to ask any questions at any point. Don’t let the woe overwhelm!

  8. Remarkable poem, Very well written. The art of words should never overshadow the art of emotion, which is the very definition of poetry in my opinion. There are different schools of thought on that, but as far as my own thoughts are concerned: yours is a nearly perfectly written poem…… good job ……

These memories will come and go
But as I stand it shall be known
There is less to say and more to show
And life is worthless without woe
